Family Friendly Tours in Kintamani and Ubud

Which Bali tours work with small children, and which quietly do not.

Travelling with children changes what makes a good tour. The scenery matters less than the timing, the distance between toilets, and whether anyone has to be carried.

Start with the wake-up time

A 02:00 pickup sounds fine when you book it and feels very different with a five-year-old. For families we usually suggest the jeep sunrise or a mid-morning start instead.

Tours that work well

Jeep sunrise tour

Seated the whole way, no climbing, and short enough that the day is not written off.

Ubud rice terrace and swing

Flat walking, plenty of shade, and swings with harnesses rated for children.

Rafting on the Ayung

Grade II rapids. Most operators take children from seven upward with a guide in every boat.

Tours to think twice about

Summit trekking, ATV, and long full-day combinations. None are unsafe, but all involve either sustained effort or more than nine hours away from your room.

Practical notes

  • Ask for a car seat when you book — it is free but not automatic
  • Pickup is charged per vehicle, so a family of five is no more expensive than a couple
  • Bring a change of clothes for anything involving water
